History & Overall Resposibility of Agency

The Lompoc Redevelopment Agency is the primary vehicle of the City of Lompoc for ensuring the long-term economic vitality of the community. Authorized by California Redevelopment Law to undertake a wide variety of activity and programs, the Agency is involved in community revitalization at all levels.

In 1984, the Agency adopted the Old Town Redevelopment Project Area, which consisted of approximately 80 acres in the “downtown” portion of the City of Lompoc. That project area was amended in 1998 to add about 920 acres of land, and in 2002, the project area was amended a second time to add approximately 80 acres of land bringing the area under the authority of the Agency to approximately 1,080 acres.
