Senior Health & Fitness Expo

With rising health-care costs and more prescription medications being taken off the market, wouldn't it be great to just get something for free that's a sure thing and good for you too?

If you're over 50, you can by attending the free Senior Health & Fitness Expo, Saturday, May 21st from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lompoc Valley Community at 1501 East Ocean Center. This expo offers free fitness testing, health screenings, cholesterol and bone density tests, wellness information and resources, and referrals to local fitness classes. Healthful snacks and water will also be available.

Participants in previous health and fitness expos have indicated they benefited by being able to improve their physical and mental well-being. You too will learn the benefits of regular activity and strength training. Studies have shown that lack of physical activity, not aging by itself, accounts for most loss of strength and muscle tone. Studies also have proven that exercise, particularly strength training, can help older people feel better, improve mood, relieve depression and even help prevent or delay certain diseases and disabilities.

Free tests and screenings at the Senior Health & Fitness Expo include:
