Click HEREThe purpose of the Crime Free Multi-Housing Program is to decrease crime and illegal activity in apartments in the City of Lompoc.
The goals of the program are to teach the apartment managers and owners how to attract honest tenants, discourage dishonest tenants from applying to live in their apartments, and avoiding lawsuits for discrimination.
The program has been in place for several years in Portland, Oregon, Phoenix, Arizona, and Riverside, California, and Lompoc, California for over two years.
Crime Free Multi-Housing consist of three phases:
- Phase One - attending the eight-hour training class.
- Phase Two - inspection of the rental property by police and fire, and making the necessary changes to insure that it meets the standards of the program.
- Phase Three - a meeting is setup with the tenants and the police department to talk to the tenants about crime prevention and give the owners/managers the phase three certificate.
Crime Free Multi-Housing consists of eight-hours of classroom instruction in the following areas:
- Crime prevention through environmental design.
- Resident applicant screening.
- Property management.
- Partnerships with the police and fire departments.
- Fair housing laws.
- Application process.
Officers from the Lompoc Police and Fire Department, and local community professionals, will provide instruction during the class.
