Welcome to the
City of Lompoc

Hello from the Chief

Dear Citizens of Lompoc:

On behalf of the entire Lompoc Police Department I want to welcome you to this web site and tell you a little about our organization.

The Lompoc Police Department is a community oriented police agency comprised of 51 sworn officers, 31 civilians, and many other part-time employees and volunteers. For more than 100 years the Department has provided around the clock police services to the Lompoc community.

We are proud of our excellent patrol force, our award winning weekly television program "Lompoc Police Beat", our Citizen Police Academy, our Investigations Section, our Narcotics Enforcement Team, our K 9 and Equestrian Programs, our 911 Emergency Communications Center, our outstanding Volunteer, Explorer and Reserve Programs, our many youth related crime prevention programs (including our G..R.E.A.T. [Gang Resistance Education and Training)], School Resource, and our participation in the Lompoc Valley Police Activities League), - the list just goes on and on. Most of all, however, we are proud of our people - the fine men and women who make up our department and who are keenly dedicated to protecting and serving this outstanding community.

We have a ride along program whereby you can spend time in a patrol car observing an officer go about his or her duties. Our Community Services Section offers complimentary security inspections as well as advice and literature on a variety of crime prevention and safety subjects. If we can ever be of service to you in these or other capacities, please don't hesitate to call upon us. We also make extensive use of volunteers from our community in a wide variety of areas. If you are interested in police work and would consider donating your time and expertise, please contact us for further information.

Lompoc is a very special place in which to live, to work, to study, to raise children and to retire. All of us in the Lompoc Police Department are committed to work in partnership with you, our citizens, to identify and solve problems related to crime, fear of crime, social decay and quality of life. By working together we can make a difference. Our collaborations can increase public safety, lower costs associated with the criminal justice system, and improve the quality of life in Lompoc.

Respectfully,

Timothy L. Dabney
Chief of Police
