Dear Citizens of Lompoc:
The Lompoc Police Department is an organization with more than 100 years of quality professional police service to this community. Our citizens are some of the friendliest and generous people on the central coast and our City government is continually working to improve service to the people we serve.
On behalf of the men and women of the Lompoc Police Department I want to welcome you to this web site and tell you a little about our organization.
The Lompoc Police Department is a community oriented police agency comprised of 50 sworn officers, 31 civilians, and many other part-time employees and volunteers. We are proud of the many “parts” of our agency that together form the “whole” of who we represent and serve.
Just a few of our programs and accomplishments in recent years include a marked reduction in gang-related crime by combining aggressive enforcement with gang-focused crime prevention and intervention efforts. We provide a school-based education program called “Gang Resistance Education and Training GREAT” to all 5th grade public and private school students in the City.
Our Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team has seized record amounts of narcotics from criminals that target our citizens and sent scores of drug dealers and gang members to prison for extended sentences for attempting to poison our youth. Our Criminal Investigators have solved some heinous crimes in recent years and we can now say we have no unsolved homicide cases in our City.
The Patrol element of the Lompoc Police Department is the core of our service to our residents and visitors. We are dedicated to staffing our patrol squads to insure officer safety and quick and professional response to any call for service. Our dispatchers are courteous and efficient at sending police and fire to all emergency calls quickly and efficiently.
On Thursday evenings you can tune into our award-winning “Lompoc Police Beat” TV program. You can attend one of our Citizen Police Academy programs, join our Volunteer Corps to augment our force, be an Explorer, join our Police Foundation or Police Activities League Board of Directors.
Rather than reading my description of the many excellent things we do for our community as a police force I invite you and your family to visit the our Police Department to get a tour of our facility, ask questions and find a place where you can get involved.
Lompoc is a very special place in which to live, to work, to study, to raise children and to retire. All of us in the Lompoc Police Department are committed to work in partnership with you, our citizens, to identify and solve problems related to crime, fear of crime, social decay and quality of life. By working together we can make a difference.
