Message from the Chief of Police
Welcome to the Lompoc Police Department Web page. I am honored to be the City of Lompoc’s next police chief. On behalf of the citizens and officers of Lompoc, I would like to thank my predecessor Chief Ralston for his dedication and service to the City of Lompoc and hope he has success and happiness in his future endeavors.
The Lompoc Police Department is a professional organization with a tradition of service and excellence and I am proud to join this fine organization. As stated on the patrol cars and in the mission statement, “A tradition of service” is not just a slogan; it is a way of life for the men and women of the Lompoc Police Department.
Raised in Camarillo, CA, I have always enjoyed the central coast and consider it one of my favorite places. My family and I have always planned on returning to the area and we could not be happier to live and work in Lompoc.
In 1984 I started my career in law enforcement with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. After nearly eight years with LASD my wife and I moved to the Northwest to work and raise our children.
In 1992 I began working for the Portland Police Bureau. I have had a variety of assignments from; patrol, narcotics, professional standards, gang enforcement, Department of Justice Compliance Coordinator, Executive Officer, Chief’s Adjutant, watch commander and Tactical Operations Command.
I have had a very interesting and satisfying career to date and still like coming to work. The fact I am joining such a professional organization as the Lompoc Police Department is an excellent way to round out the last decade of my career.
Law enforcement is changing rapidly and is a very complex and evolving profession. To stay engaged and relevant police departments have to evolve and change with the times. Lompoc is entering into an exciting time and the Police Department will be part of the change as Lompoc continues to grow and work toward economic prosperity.
