

Reserve Officer Program
Lompoc Police Reserve Officers hold a responsible position contributing to the safety and well-being of the community. They assist regular Lompoc Police Department officers in the prevention and detection of crime and the general enforcement of laws while assigned specific police functions.
Level II Reserve police officers work under the immediate supervision of a regular police officer.
Level II Reserve police officers are required to fulfill a minimum commitment of 16 duty hours monthly.
Level I Reserve police officers (who have complete a California POST certified basic academy and completed the Field Training Program) are paid for their service to the Department and may work independently.
Salary and Benefits:
Level II Reserve police officers normally volunteer their duty time without pay.
Level I Reserve Police Officers' Hourly salary rates are based upon the individual's qualifications. Reserve officers may participate in a retirement plan for part-time and temporary employees when receiving pay for special assignment.
Reserve officers receive Worker's Compensation protection while performing volunteer or paid duty.
The Lompoc Police Department provides all necessary safety equipment for its reserve officers. Reserve police officers also receive a uniform allowance which is paid quarterly.
Reserve police officers have the opportunity to move into a full-time law enforcement career directly from the reserve police officer ranks.
