LOMPOC RESIDENTS ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT THEIR cultural landscape. Robert Leonard vividly portrays some of the images through his camera lens focused on local steeples. Earlier this year, his photographs were on exhibit at the Lompoc Museum, where I recruited him for this issue of the magazine.
Presenting another panorama, Richard Sanford reflects back on 37 years of local winegrowing
experience. He was a trailblazer in planting vineyards on Santa Rosa Road and collaborated with others to
establish the Sta. Rita Hills appellation. Kudos to Sanford for his courage and overcoming his initial
concerns about winemaking in a former temperance colony.
Local cartoonist Sheldon Green humors us with illustrations depicting commuter and winemaker
nightmares. Photographs by Brandy Flint, Nora Wallace, and others also grace the pages of this issue.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have a contribution for the next issue of the magazine.
