Public input is being sought throughout the process

LOMPOC, CA, July 3, 2019 – The City of Lompoc wants to share several important updates with the community regarding Proposition 68 state grant funding to improve local parks and revitalize Lompoc neighborhoods.

Lompoc is continuing to seek community input regarding upcoming Prop. 68-funded improvements at Pioneer Park and Johns-Manville Park. There are several ways public input is being accepted for these upcoming improvements. An online community survey has been established, and public meetings are scheduled for Thursday, July 11 at Lompoc City Hall: 5 p.m. for J.M. Park, and 6 p.m. for Pioneer Park. These meetings will focus on site amenities, such as playgrounds, surfacing, shade structures and barbecuing area options. The public is encouraged to take the survey and attend the meetings to provide valuable feedback that will help shape the future of Pioneer and J.M parks.

In addition, city staff is in the process of taking down dilapidated playground equipment at Beattie Park. Lompoc city staff plans to use Prop. 68 funds to install new playground equipment at Beattie Park in 2020. Lompoc staff expects the Prop. 68 funds for Beattie Park to be awarded in spring 2020, and public involvement will be sought throughout the Beattie Park improvement process.

Questions or concerns from the public regarding Prop. 68 projects may be directed to: 875-8095.
