What is SolarAPP+?
SolarAPP+, short for Solar Automated Permit Processing, is an online web portal that automates the plan review and process for issuing building permits to qualified businesses or individuals to install code-compliant residential photovoltaic (PV) systems. Based on model building, electrical, and fire codes, SolarAPP automatically performs a compliance check on inputs supplied by the contractor to ensure the proposed system is safe and code compliant. Installation practices, workmanship, and adherence to the approved design are then verified by the City of Lompoc through the inspection process.
How To Use SolarAPP+
*All contractors must obtain a City Business Tax Certificate and have a valid State Contractors License to be eligible to submit an application through SolarApp+
Step 1: Obtain Approval from City of Lompoc Electric
Please be advised that if you proceed with submitting a project in SolarAPP+ and install a system without receiving approval from the utility first, you will not be able to interconnect the system until after the suspension of the application process has been removed and your system has been approved by the Utility.
- Contact the City of Lompoc Electric Utility division to submit a PV Installation and Interconnection Application

- Review and initial the "Customer Owned Generation Rate Schedule G-1," as provided by the Electric Utility division
- Verify the proposed solar system wiring and interconnection means comply with the City of Lompoc Electric Utility Division Standard Drawing Number SM-1600 requirements of a 2-meter billing arrangement
- Once approval has been obtained by City of Lompoc Electric, proceed to Step 2
Step 2: Submit Project in SolarAPP+
- Click here to be directed to SolarAPP+
- Register for or login to your SolarAPP+ account
- Submit your project through SolarAPP+
- Pay the associated fees
- Download the approval documents
Step 3: Submit Project to Building Division
- Email approval documents to building@ci.lompoc.ca.us
- Staff will create a City of Lompoc building permit number for system tracking
- An email will be sent containing the permit number, as well as an invoice for payment for the new production electric meters to be installed
- Once payment is received, you will be sent a copy of your permit and inspection sheet, and construction can commence.
Step 4: Request Inspection and Interconnectivity
- Inspections must be requested through our City of Lompoc inspection line at least one day prior to your desired inspection date

- Be sure to have all approval paperwork and inspection sheet on site for inspector
