Be advised, effective January 1, 2026, all projects must be designed per 2025 California Building Codes. Existing projects may continue with old codes, however forward progress must be continuous to stay valid.

Our Mission
We are here to provide quality, comprehensive, and business-friendly services to the community. We partner with property owners and the construction industry to ensure all development is built to City standards—because gravity is real, and so are building codes! Our goal is to promote a safe built environment for everyone.

We are available Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, by appointment only.

- How do I submit a permit or corrected plans? Welcome to the 21st century! We have recently converted to digital-only submittals for all permit applications. No more hauling heavy paper rolls across town.
- Please click here to access our Customer Self-Service website to submit your plans.
- Stuck on the digital stuff? Direct your online permit application questions to our resident guru via email at m_drew@ci.lompoc.ca.us.
- How do I check the status of my permit? Wondering if your project is moving along? You are welcome to call or email us, but honestly, the fastest way to check your status is to log into the Customer Self-Service portal. It’s available 24/7, unlike us!
- How do I schedule a field inspection? Ready for us to take a look? We perform building inspections on a daily basis to keep your project moving.

- Use the permit portal to schedule your inspection online.
🚨 The Golden Rule of Inspections: You must have your stamped, approved plans available on the job site for the inspector. If they are not available, there will be no inspection. The inspector will turn around and leave, and you will have to reschedule. We really mean it!

- Building Inspections: We guide developers, contractors, and homeowners through the construction process to guarantee the physical work matches the approved plans and pertinent codes.
