The City of Lompoc thanks you for choosing Lompoc as your business location and welcomes you to its business community.
All businesses within the City of Lompoc are required to obtain a Business Tax Certificate before conducting business this includes those without a physical location inside the City, such as service providers, contractors, and consultants.
For an application and fee schedule, please click on one of the following:
- In City Business Tax Certificate Application (All businesses located within the Lompoc City Limits)
- Business Tax Payments by Credit Card
- Out of City Business Tax Certificate Application (Contractors, Sub-Contractors, Delivery Businesses, Consultants, etc…, with no physical location inside the Lompoc City Limits)
- Exempt Business License Application
- Home Use Permit Application
- Vendor Permit - Mobile Vendor (MVP) Food Truck Vendor
- Vendor Permit - Sidewalk Vendor (SVP)
It is our desire to make this process as easy as possible; we encourage you to come into City Hall Monday – Friday 9am-5pm or call us at (805) 875-8236 or (805) 875-8241 to speak to an associate that can answer your questions.
If your business will be in a new, or existing building, it will need to be inspected by the City’s Building & Safety Division to confirm it passes local building and business codes.
Before you begin, you may want to contact the City's Building and Planning Divisions at (805) 875-8220 or (805) 875-8275 (Planning) to answer any question you may have including:
- Zoning - Is the prospective location or building you are looking at zoned for the type of business you plan to engage in?
- Building - Is the building up to present Building Codes (structural, electrical, etc.)?
- Signs - If you plan to erect advertising structures, you must apply for sign permits.
- Miscellaneous - Certificate of Occupancy, commercial hoods, grease traps, building permits, etc..., may be required before your business can be opened.
Special Permits
Special permits are required for solicitors or peddlers, secondhand dealers, cannabis commercial operations, massage therapists, taxis, bingo games, carnivals and circuses, closing out sales, security guards, yard sales, dog kennels, large family daycare centers, alarm installation, detective agencies, fortune telling and astrology, organized public gatherings, filming, and painting numbers on curbs.
