The Economic Development Committee (EDC) is comprised of a broad range of members throughout the community that strive to “develop a strong positive image, which attracts and retains businesses, visitors and residents that achieves economic vitality in the Lompoc Valley,” according to the Committee Vision Statement, adopted October 2014. The committee is currently made up of twenty-two voluntary community members. Members of the committee represent diversity in both demographics and industry in order to reflect the wide variety of interests in the City of Lompoc. Currently members of the committee come from the real estate industry, both commercial and residential, wine industry, healthcare, retail services, hospitality, manufacturing, finance, auto industry, Vandenberg Air Force Base, professional services, and information technology.
Quarterly, the EDC awards Economic Vitality Awards (EVA) to businesses in the Lompoc community to promote economic development. The EDC started a new program in March 2014 designed to recognize local businesses that are launching Lompoc into the 21st Century.
The Economic Vitality Award, “EVA”, is awarded monthly to Lompoc Valley businesses. A certificate of award and window decal is presented to the winners to display in their businesses.
