Welcome to the Lompoc Public Library System
Library users expect each of our facilities to be clean, comfortable, and safe places. The library is responsible for establishing rules of conduct to protect the rights and safety of library patrons, volunteers, and staff. The rules are also designed to maintain the library’s peaceful atmosphere, facilitate library usage, and protect library property.
Behavior becomes unacceptable when it interferes with the rights of others, when it could result in injury to one’s self or others, when it could result in damage to library materials, buildings, or equipment, and when it does not align with the library’s mission.
All children age 8 or younger shall be attended and adequately supervised by a responsible person (e.g., a parent or other responsible caregiver age 12 or older).
For full list of policies ask your Library.
The library welcomes books in good condition, weekly magazines less than three months old, and monetary contributions.
All materials donated to the library become the sole property of the library (public property). All donations are irrevocable. The library shall determine how best to utilize, handle, shelve or display any item in accordance with library standards and practices and in accordance with legal requirements set forth for "Public Property" disposal. Donors are responsible for transporting items to the library. No conditions may be imposed on the library in its acceptance of any gift or donation.
Computers are available for free public use at the Lompoc and Village branches. You will need a library card or a form of I.D. in order to access them.
Library Internet use is restricted to educational, informational, and recreational purposes only.
Library Internet users are NOT allowed to:
- Install or run software not already on computer.
- Modify, unplug, or remove equipment.
- Reconfigure systems or software, or in any way interfere with current system setup.
- Reboot or turn off equipment.
Returning Library Materials
Most library materials do not have to be returned to the library from which they were borrowed. They may be returned to any Black Gold library. Lompoc books MAY be returned to any public library in Santa Barbara County and San Luis Obispo County.
After hours, books may be returned in the library's book drop.
