The Lompoc Public Library system offers online tutors for children in K - 12th Grade. Brainfuse HelpNow offers 24/7 access to tutors in English and Spanish, writing labs, and practice tests.

Kids can find a surprise at the Library!

Hidden beneath the shelves of books is little mouse hole with five friendly mice. This mouse hole was built in 1986 by Alyce Fitzgerald. The mice are inspired by the book Anatole by Eve Titus.

Early Literacy

It is never too early to share stories with children. Starting at birth read, write, play, talk, and sing with a child every day. At the library, you can also participate in 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Reading Challenge via Beanstack, check out a Book Bundle to bring storytime home, and attend storytimes in-person to help your children discover a love of reading.

During storytime you and your child will listen to stories, rhymes, and participate in movement activities focusing on developing early literacy skills.

Baby storytime is geared towards children ages 0 - 2, while family storytime and Books & Bubbles are geared towards children ages 0 - 5. Books & Bubbles is a bilingual (English / Spanish) storytime.

Early Literacy Book Bundles

Don't have time to come into the library for a storytime? Book bundles are storytime kits containing 3-6 picture books and an informational sheet all in one bag for parents and early-learning providers to share with babies, toddlers, and preschoolers in a group or one-on-one setting. We have kits in both Spanish and English in a variety of themes. Each kit is available for hold on the catalog at lom.blackgold.org by searching for "book bundles." You may borrow 1 book bundle at a time for a period of 3 weeks.
