Structure Firefighting

  • The Lompoc City Fire Department is committed to protecting life, property and the environment through a rapid and effective response to structural fires within the community. 
  • Lompoc City firefighters are trained to handle a wide range of structural fires, from residential homes to commercial buildings through:
    • Extensive, ongoing training.
    • Implementation of structured incident management systems which ensure that each response is organized, efficient and focused on safety.

  • The department's preparedness and professionalism play a critical role in minimizing damage and saving lives during fire emergencies.

Structural Firefighting

Wildland Firefighting

  • The Lompoc City Fire Department plays a vital role in responding to and mitigating wildland fires both within the city's jurisdiction and as part of the broader Santa Barbara County Operational Area.
  • The department contributes to the statewide Mutual Aid System by providing support during large-scale wildfires across California.
  • Lompoc firefighters are equipped to operate safely and effectively in challenging wildland environments. This is accomplished through:
    • Extensive wildland fire training
    • Strategic preparedness
    • The use of well-established incident protocols
  • The department's commitment to continued training ensures rapid, coordinated responses that will protect lives, property and natural resources from the growing threat of wildland fires.

Urban Search and Rescue

  • As part of California's statewide Mutual Aid System, the Lompoc City Fire Department is a key participant in delivering Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) capabilities to the local community, the Santa Barbara County Operational Area, and throughout California.
  • The department's team are highly trained in USAR disciplines, including:
    • Confined space rescue
    • Structural collapse response
    • Rope rescue
    • Additional technical rescue operations
  • Lompoc Fire is an integral part of Rescue Task Force 12 (RTF 12):
    • This coordinated team is comprised of all fire departments within the operational area.
    • RTF 12 members work together to respond to complex rescue incidents that require specialized skills and equipment.
